Our Church School offers formal religious education for children entering kindergarten through the seventh grade. We also offer childcare for younger children ages 2-5 (pre-kindergarten). Follow these links for our Church School brochure and registration form. After graduating from Church School, confirmation classes follow in 8th grade. Our high school teenagers participate in the Youth Action Committee, which undertakes a number of service projects throughout the year.

The Church School curriculum is designed to present stories of the Bible, as well as stories of modern life and contemporary figures, with the aim of teaching children about the history and beliefs of Christianity and drawing connections to their relevance in today’s world. Our goal is to help children think about what the stories of the Bible, and the life of Jesus, tell us about how we live our own lives. We invite our children to think and question as they learn. We also provide opportunities for our students to shape and deepen their spiritual core.

We welcome children in our wider-church activities, believing them to be a lively, affirming and integral part of our church community. We invite children of Church School age to attend the first portion of Sunday worship, which concludes with "Time with Children." Given by the Director of Christian Education or by the Senior Minister, this time provides a moment of education and worship with the whole congregation. "Time With Children" concludes with the Lord's Prayer, after which the children are dismissed with their teachers to their classrooms. Volunteer teachers staff each class.

In addition to Church school, children and their families can participate in many other events throughout the church year. From Family Fun Nights to Bringing in Christmas to the Shrove Tuesday Pancake & Pasta suppers, there is always fun mixed with learning for SCC’s children and adults.
