The Scarsdale Congregational Church offers two services on Easter Sunday at 9:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Modeled after our Christmas Eve services, there is a family service, followed shortly after by a traditional Easter Sunday service.
The family service is designed to work well with children from toddlers to early teens. The length of the service is carefully managed to about 30 minutes. The centerpiece is a pageant performed by the church school students based on some of the stories of Jesus' resurrection in the gospels. The minister narrates the story in segments, using simple language that children can understand, while the church school students act out that part of the story. The congregation participates through word and song.
Our traditional Easter Sunday service follows a structure similar to our typical Sunday morning service, but features seasonally appropriate hymns and litanies, and an Easter-themed sermon. The traditional service is followed by a one hour reception in the Parish House with refreshments.
