SCC Day of Service
The Outreach Committee is sponsoring a day of service for all of us to give back and make the world a bit better. If you want to help:
A) In the Community...we will be going to Grassroots Grocery to help pack, sort, and load vehicles with fresh produce for needy families from the Hunts Point Market. You can also opt to make a delivery of the produce with your own vehicle to one of Grass Roots Grocery's community partners. If you deliver, you should be done by noon, if not you should be done by roughly 10:30am.
We will meet in the SCC Parking Lot across from the church at 8:15 am to arrive in the Bronx by 9:00 am. Please sign up here (https://www.grassrootsgrocery.org/scc-produce-party) to let us know you're coming! To learn more about Grassroots Grocery, and its wonderful success, see this link (https://www.grassrootsgrocery.org/) or talk to SCC's own Paul Carmody who is a regular Grass Root Grocery volunteer. If you want to carpool with someone, or are willing to drive someone, please let Nan Berke know at ntberke@gmail.com.
B) At SCC... It's Postcard writing time for Reclaim our Vote! Join us in the Boynton Room at 1:00 pm to write postcards to Black voters in North Carolina asking them to pledge to vote and to help with campaigns in their state. Refreshments will be served. Please bring postcard stamps to defray the mailing expense.
C) Do Both... Why not? If there's enough of us, we can enjoy lunch out somewhere in between activities.
Whichever activity(ies) you choose please bring a box of cereal for the Ecumenical Emergency Food Pantry too!
Please email Nan Berke at ntberke@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Thank you!
