1890’s

October 25, 1895: Seven men and two women meet at the home of Mr. C. W. Gaylor to create The Arthur Manor Union Sunday School Association.

November 10, 1895: Forty-two persons gather on the second floor of the Sprague Road Fire House (at what is now 24 Sprague Road) for the first meeting of the Sunday School.

Summer 1896: The Sunday School Association forms a Devotional Committee which arranges for preaching services to be held during the summer. Retired medical doctor J. H. Gunning conducts these services.

June 6, 1897: William Dana Street, a student at Union Theological Seminary, begins to preach at summer worship services for the adults.

Summer 1897: The Christian Endeavor Society is organized with twenty young members.
