1900’s

July 1901: The Christian Endeavor Society publishes the first issue of The Scarsdale Inquirer (which continues to this day as a privately owned weekly newspaper).

October 2, 1901: The White Plains Congregational Church is organized with William Dana Street as its preacher.

October 1902: Arthur Osborn Pritchard, a student at Union Theological Seminary, is hired to preach at the Fire House during the winter. Upon graduation in 1903, he is called as Assistant Pastor of the White Plains Congregational Church (later called the Westchester Congregational Church) and put in charge of all work in Scarsdale.

April 1, 1903: The Scarsdale Congregation is organized as a branch of the White Plains Congregational Church, under the guidance of Arthur Osborn Pritchard. There are 30 members.

January 12, 1904: The Heathcote Association is incorporated.

Early 1904: Scarsdale Estates gives the Scarsdale congregation a plot of land on the corner of Heathcote and Post Roads.

August 27, 1904: The cornerstone of the “Little Stone Church” is laid. (The cornerstone is later retrieved from the boiler room of the Parish House and in 1990 becomes part of the church sign, designed by Bonnie Mitchell, at the corner of Heathcote and Post Roads.)

December 18, 1904: The first service in the Little Stone Church is held in the Sunday School Room. The first service in the Sanctuary, seating 150 people, takes place on Christmas. Total cost to build this Church was $7,986. (The church bell given by Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, now chimes from the current Sanctuary steeple.)

1907: The Ladies Missionary and Aid Society is organized.

July 28, 1908: With the approval of the Heathcote Association, the church purchases three quarters of an acre north of The Little Stone Church on which a parsonage is to be built.
